Alex Lawes, 22, from Buckinghamshire, was out celebrating his girlfriend's 21st birthday on Saturday night at Tiger Tiger in Manchester when the accident happened.

According to Greater Manchester Police (GMP), the party-goer fell over the balcony railings inside the four-floor city centre hotspot at roughly 10.30pm.

He later died at Salford Royal Infirmary after sustaining fatal head injuries.

One eye witness speaking to the Manchester Evening News (MEN) claimed to have seen him fall from the top balcony and land 3ft away from her.

A spokesman from GMP told Yahoo! UK News that his death is not being treated as suspicious and the case has now been passed onto a coroner.

His mother said the young couple had a holiday booked in Jamaica and were due to fly out yesterday (Monday) where he was intending to give his girlfriend Jessica an engagement ring.

She described her son, who was a registered organ donor, to the MEN: "He was such a caring person, and his caring will now go on even after his death because other ill people will benefit from his organs. He has made such a difference to other people's lives."
